Homeschooling in Nevada: How To Homeschool While Following State Laws

There are many benefits to homeschooling; it gives parents freedom in choosing the curriculums and subjects their children learn. Remote learning also ensures their children are kept safe, away from potential dangers like bullying or viruses in public schools. It’s a win-win situation.

Quick Facts:

  • There is one way to homeschool 
  • Children between 7-18 of age must be in school 
  • You MUST notify your local school district of your intentions

Requirements:

  • There are NO teacher qualifications
  • There ARE state mandated subjects 
  • There are NO required assessments or testing 
  • There are NO immunization requirements

How to Homeschool in Nevada

  • Notify the superintendent of your local school district that you intend to homeschool no later than 10 days after you have formally withdrawn your child from public school
  • Include in the notice:
  1. Name
  2. Age
  3. Gender
  4. Address
  5. Statement from you that is signed and dated affirming that you have the legal right to direct their education and assume full responsibility
  6. Name of most recent public school that your child attended in Nevada
  • Include the following subjects in your instruction:
  1. English
  2. Math
  3. Social studies
  4. History
  5. Geography
  6. Economics
  7. Government
  8. Science
