- Children between 7-16 of age must be in school
- You MUST notify your local school district of your intentions
Requirements:
- There are NO teacher qualifications
- There ARE state mandated subjects
- There are NO required assessments or testing
- There ARE immunization requirements
How to Homeschool in Montana Under the Statute
- Notify the superintendent of your county school district between July 1-June 30 every year of your intent to homeschool
- Include the following subjects:
a) Math
b) Social studies
c) English/Language Arts
d) Science
e) Health
f) Career Education
g) Arts
- Provide at least 720 hours of instruction for grades 1-3 and 1080 hours of instruction for grades 4-12
- Keep and maintain attendance records
- Keep an updated record of all immunizations
- Follow all health and safety regulations that are applicable to homes
