Non-Electric washers and dryers are a must-have especially if you are in an area where electricity outage happens a lot. Not only that it is good for emergencies these non-electric washing machines will save you money, give you a good workout, and are gentle on your clothes.
Lavario Portable Clothes Washer
“My portable electric washer broke and I replaced it with the lavario. There is of course a learning curve. The instructions state to leave the clothing soak for five minutes, but I found that 5 minutes was not long enough to remove stains, food or underarm deoderant residue from the clothing. If I soak heavily stained items in warm to hot water for 30 to 60 minutes, the clothes come out clean. for items with no stains, a 10 to 15 minute soak works great. I only use warm to hot water, If you use cold water only, I would recommend soaking the clothing for at least an hour. lifting the basket up and down 30 times for each load of laundry can be difficult, to save your shoulders, push the basket down and let it float back up naturally, pushing it down takes no strength at all, pulling the basket up, is a true bicep workout. Lastly, get an electric spin dryer, the lavario says to empty the bucket, put the clothing in the bottom and push down on the basket to drain water, no matter how hard you push, the clothing will still be soaking wet. I like this washer because it will never break, its quiet, easy to use and works well.” – Edwins Grandma
WOWKU Manual Washer And Dryer Combo
“I haven’t washed any clothes yet but it looks like it will be easy to use. I got this for times when we lose power for any length of time. It won’t hold as much as a regular washer but will hold a few things.” – Michelle Poland
Avalon Bay EcoSpin
“I’ve been going to the Gym 5-6 days a week and found it challenging to wash gym clothes every other day. I live in an apartment, and the community wash room would cost me a fortune to wash and dry 5 days a week. I needed something to supplement in between regular loads of laundry, and this little washer was perfect! It can fit gym pants, a shirt or 2, some undies, and a few socks. I can now do 2 small loads a week, and hang dry overnight. The washer itself takes up very little space, and if anyone is looking to utilize this washer for similar use, I would highly recommend pre-soaking before washing, and doing a 2nd rinse. Everything comes out super fresh! This washer has become a life-saver, and a money-saver as well. Great investment!” – tamara etheridge
Dezitrek All in One Hand Wash Bag and Plunger Set
“Great for small spaces and as an emergency backup. In quarantine with no washer/dryer. Came upon this Dezitrek and I’m so glad I did! Easy to use and an added bonus, it’s better for the environment. It’s quick and my clothes are clean!” – Denise
Scrubba Portable Wash Bag
“Works great had about 3 months of heavy use and it shows no signs of wear and tear. It also cleans clothes better than the commercial washing machine so the scrubba definetly gets the skibum seal of approval for sure.” – Jake D.
Washboard Basin for Hand Washing Clothes
“My sister washes her clothes at home by hand. I purchased the washboard basin for her. She loves it and expresses how easy and helpful it is to use. It is also the perfect size.” – Lily
Portable Compact Spin Dryer
“This is great. It’s exactly what I expected and hoped for. It cut my laundry time by more than half. No, it doesn’t get your clothes completely dry, but I just washed a pair of pants that usually take two days to dry and they were dry in a matter of hours. My only issue is that water leaks out of holes at the base of the product, so you have to use it in a tub or area with a drain. Luckily, it fits perfectly in the small bathtub in my apartment!
This product is great for apartments that don’t have in unit washer/dryers.” – Mary Bianca
The Laundry POD, White
“We bought this to use at our cabin when we go out of town, but our washing machine recently broke down and we ended up using this at home. I couldn’t believe how easy it was to use and how clean the clothes came out! The process of doing laundry, while it required more “elbow grease” on my part, actually took less time and my clothes came out cleaner. I may just use this permanently and forget about repairing my washer!” – SarahWeinisch
SmartSome Clothes Drying Rack
“This thing is perfect for hanging clothes after I steam the wrinkles out, and it’s also great for just hanging clothes to air dry. It folds up so I can put it away when I’m not using it – but I’ve been using it daily ever since taking it out of the box.
It’s also nice for hanging dirty wet towels and washcloths on so they can dry while waiting to go into the wash machine without sitting in a musty pile.
Thinking about getting my mom one for Christmas.” – Sarah
washOTG Portable Washing Machine
“This is a really nifty hand wash gizmo! Small load of socks or undergarments… just plunge it up and down to agitate and pull soapy water through. Has great suction! I use it with only the short stem handle in a bucket on my toilet seat. You will have to hand wring/squeeze out water, so I do not recommend washing jeans or other heavy cottons this way…! I squeeze/wring back into the bucket, transferring the items into a smaller basin (could be your sink), and then use my spin dryer/extractor (best laundry item ever!) to pull out residual wash water… then one or two rinses (as needed)… The spin dryer pulls out about 90% of remaining water, so air drying is really fast… or use your clothes dryer if you have one.
Quiet, takes up little room to store… Neat item!” – P. Alexander
