Best Motivational Books For Entrepreneurs

Rita Onyx

Six years ago, I left my job of nursing to pursue entrepreneurship.

Did I regret it? No, at all.

Was it hard? Absolutely.

It was a family business, so it wasn’t like I was left stranded on an island with no support. I was able to work together as a group, motivating each other. But I won’t act like the naysayers never got to me sometimes. I always heard, “Rita, you should’ve stayed in a stable job,” and never “Reach for the stars, Rita!” But now that my family business is successful (we were able to generate 1 million dollars in revenue the first year we started), I have gotten more support than I could have ever imagined from people.

If you’re just starting out in your small business or in the middle of your entrepreneurship journey…and lack support, try out these motivational books. They’ve helped me out on my darkest days when I had wanted to quit. And maybe they’ll be with you too.

Whatever It Takes

“Brandon never disappoints. The 3rd book of his I have had the pleasure of purchasing. It’s always good to grow in your role and look for sales tools that will help you consistently hit goals and exceed goals. If you are looking for a good book that will show you an immediate impact in your role…this is your book!!” — Dee

Way of the Wolf

“Best sales book of all time. I work on the strip in Las Vegas selling club crawls. To put this job in perspective, the average sales rep makes about $500-$1500 a week with all time record of $3,800 in a week. I was already doing well at an average of $2,000 a week. After applying the principles in the book along with adding value to my pitch, my average sales went up to $5,000 per week and I set the all-time record of $8,010 in one week. My average week is better than any other club crawl sales rep in Vegas has done ever and it’s still getting better. It takes longer than 90 days to get this stuff down, but the Straight Line works. Buy the book, you won’t be disappointed.” — Daniel

Starting a Business QuickStart Guide

“This is a book the author clearly did not rush. It covers the key information anyone starting a (serious) business would be interested in. There are some useful templates associated with the book as well. Nice work!” — Patrick

Your Next Five Moves: Master the Art of Business Strategy

“This book should be a mandatory read for every entrepreneur, I would nominate “Your Next five moves” into the hall of fame for books. Every chapter can be a book on its own that’s how powerful this book is. I’ve read many books and as an entrepreneur, this book goes really deep and it has principles that you can immediately apply no matter what business you’re in you can use the information to scale your business. You can tell Patrick took his time and gave us readers an inside into what it takes to grow your business.” — Garri

The 7 Key Habits & Principles of Elite Entrepreneurs

“As a semi-retired entrepreneur, I read the 7 Keys Habits wishing that I had this book during some very trying business times. The information contained in this book is solid, well-written, and very timely. One thought that struck me while reading this book was that you don’t have to be an entrepreneur to benefit from reading the book. Many of the ideas and strategies would translate well as guidance for everyday living. Recommended reading for anyone.” — Amazon Customer

The Self-Reliant Entrepreneur

“I have been a fan and have been lucky enough to become a friend of John’s over the years. Each time I get to read something he has written, I learn from him. I am using the Self-Reliant Entrepreneur as part of my daily practices, which include meditation. Every day there is a boost of wisdom and insight that this book gives me. I love how John ties the modern-day adventure of being an entrepreneur and business owner to age-old wisdom and practices. Let this 5 – 10 daily read be your guide for staying a little saner in this crazy world we call entrepreneurship and freedom.” — Rick

The Muffin Man Chronicles: Recipes for Entrepreneurial Success

“The Muffin Man Chronicles tells a magnificent story of how a little bit of luck and several useful strategies turned an 80’s fad into a thriving food manufacturer. Steve Marks shares these strategies along with where he and his partner struggled. If you think of yourself as an entrepreneur, The Muffin Man Chronicles will help you form core strategies and beliefs to help you along your way.” — Bryan

The Power of Broke

“Every morning before I start work I read. Sometimes I read for 10 minutes, sometimes for an hour. This book has provided me with some incredibly valuable tips about running my own show, and making good business decisions. You know that over-used quote from Jim Rohn, that you’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with? Reading Daymond John’s book I felt I was there with him as he shared his own story and stories of others he’s helped. I read books that help me with my mindset. So this is one I’ll return to for a tune-up.” — Amy

Mind Your Business: A Workbook to Grow Your Creative Passion Into a Full-time Gig

“This book will be invaluable to anyone dreaming about starting or scaling up a creative business. The fill-in portions included are honestly worth triple the price. I’ve spent bank on business workshops that didn’t give as much value as this book. I know when you get it, you’re going to want to start filling it up like crazy, but really read and think about what the author is saying and put pen to paper in a thoughtful way to get the most out of this book. Buy this for your friend with the side hustle; she will thank you.” — Laura

UNSCRIPTED: Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Entrepreneurship

“An absolutely fantastic read for anyone truly serious about starting a business. Not for the faint-hearted either; this book ain’t PC (nor should it be), and it called me out more times than my parents did while I was growing up, and I LOVED every second of it. MJ cuts through the BS and tells it like it is. You will not be handed a perfect step-by-step guide; that’s up to you to determine. What this book does give you are some strategies that create a far better platform to start your venture, than if you were just starting from complete scratch with no guidance at all. I cannot recommend this book enough.” — Dan
