If your kid is starting to learn how to read, then the same book over and over won’t do much. You need to expand their vocabulary, which means offering them a variety when it comes to books.
Regardless of the reading stage your kid is at right now, there are books out there that will offer them the perfect match. This means a fun activity that still gives them a bit of a challenge. Not sure where to start looking? I’ve assembled a list of the top book sets that you can get your kid.
My Big Fat Zombie Goldfish Boxed Set
“My 6 year old son loves reading and flies through books as fast as we can buy them. After he finished the last series he was reading I started looking for a new series for him. I came across these and the reviews convinced me to order them. He was hooked shortly into the first book and spent most of his free time reading these. Anytime he reads instead of asking to play on electronics we consider a victory.” — Josh E.
Henry and Mudge Ready-to-Read Value Pack
“My seven year old son is an excellent reader, but he doesn’t enjoy reading. He can read anything, but I have a difficult time finding books that grab his attention. The Henry & Mudge series did just that and he asked me to order more. We started with a single book and now have a few different sets. He loves them and I love that he’s reading for enjoyment!” — Whitney
Narwhal and Jelly Box Set
“After discovering one of these books at the library, my child fell in love! As far as graphic novels go, they’re simple enough to read, and the pictures and content are just an absolute joy! Highly recommend these for early readers (6-year-olds) all the way up through early-teenagers (12/13).” — K. C.
Magic Tree House Boxed Set
“My four-year-old was a very early reader, and this was the first set of “big girl books” that actually interested her. While she is a wonderful reader, she is still young, and many chapter books are conceptually too advanced to be of interest to younger children. She is completely engrossed by the Magic Treehouse series and squealed “More Mary Pope Osborne books!” when I gave her her last set.”
“Every once in a while there is a “scary bit” that we need to discuss briefly, but on the whole, it’s a safe choice for the youngest of independent readers. Be careful, though – once they’re hooked on the first set, they want ALL the books!”
Amelia Bedelia Chapter Book 4-Book Box Set
“My 6 yr old granddaughter has started reading chapter books by herself, I remember how much her mommy loved Amelia Bedelia so I’m hoping she loves them too. I bought this set as a Christmas gift. I would recommend them for any new readers or kids who like to be read to. These arrived quickly, properly packed, I’m very pleased with my purchase.” — Cathy
Dr. Seuss’s Beginner Book Collection
“Cancel Culture has now hit me where I live…read Dr. Seuss to my children and now my 12 grandchildren. Though this set of titles is not on the “cancel list,” I decided to purchase anyway – just in case they do get cancelled in the future! These are the classic Dr. Seuss that everyone should have on their book shelf. Also ordered another set of different titles. What is this world coming to?”
Unicorn Academy: Rainbow of Adventure Boxed Set
“I ordered this set because my 7 year old daughter loves to me read “chapter books” at bedtime. She was obsessed with Junie B. Jones, but I didn’t like all of her antics. We are on book 3, and we both look forward to reading these every night. The author does a great job of being descriptive and engaging with simple language appropriate for a young reader.” — Rachel Carter
Elephant & Piggie: The Complete Collection
“My daughter loves Elephant and Piggie books. She is in 1st grade, she doesn’t always like to read before bedtime. But she loves these books. It is much easier for me to convince her to bedtime reading, since we have this series. We read one book from the set, and one other book. The stories are hilarious, and characters are kind, and friendly. The best part is that the books use simple vocabulary and my daughter for the most part can read them on her own. We also talk about how, and why characters behave certain way and their feelings. After she is done, she feels so accomplished. I already looked up more books from this author. I see huge difference in my daughter’s attitude towards reading when she likes the story.” — Anna C.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid 12 Books Complete Collection Set
“Our granddaughter LOVES her New Book Set!!! Nothing better than seeing the smile of a child! This was our second purchase, the first we didn’t get what was ordered. She had to wait additional days, but it was well worth it!” — Dave and Jay Raber
My Weird School Daze 12-Book Box Set
“My 9-year-old son loves this set. He reads about 30 min from the series every night and they make him very happy. Great buy!” — Amazon Customer
