Romance Books That Will Spark Things Up

by Shalom Onyx

I’m a sucker for romance, but I find that romantic series and movies on TV don’t share the same in-depth experience as a good book. With the right romance book, I’d be hooked on the story for days.

You already know just how interesting some romance books can be, but some are boring from start to finish. When it comes to getting real value for your money, and a good story to enjoy, make sure you take a closer look at the books you find below.

The Love Hypothesis

“First things first: I have loved this story since it was first published on AO3 as Reylo fanfiction. It was impeccable then. But Ali has made it even more poignant and timely by incorporating Title IX and Me Too into an already compelling STEM academia setting. Olive, for all her strengths, finds it impossible to believe in herself, both as a scientist and as a person. This book is as much about Olive coming into her own as it is about her changing her mind about Adam once he opens up to her (and humors her panicked scheming). Suffice it to say that I found it impossible not to fall in love with both Olive and Adam!” — Amazon Customer

The Wish

“I love how MrSparks can make you feel as though you are living in his novels. Not all stories are happy endings and with every new book, I believe we all learn more and more about real life situations that we may have been blind to prior to opening the pages.” — Amazon Customer

Dear Ava

“This is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. Ilsa Madden-Mills has away of making you slip into the character and feel what they feel. Ava and Knox have been through so much that you just want to do anything to make their lives better. This is a book you don’t want to miss.” — Shella B.

In Five Years

“Can I just say I have mixed feelings? Not because I didn’t love the story but because I’m not sure I agree with the ending.”

“What a heartbreaking and beautiful story! In Five Years brought out so many emotions in me. The novel is a story of two best friends, their friendship and the love, loss and hope they experienced. From the first moment I opened this book, I knew I wouldn’t be able to put it away for any reason. It’s one of those books that demand your attention. This story spoke to me in so many ways. As I said earlier, it made me feel all types of emotions.” — Amazon Customer

Give Me a Reason

“Oh my heart….I can’t even begin to explain what this story did to me, the emotions it evoked from me and when I say this is a book that needs to be read…YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK!” — Melissa B.

The Hating Game: A Novel

“Y’all, I loved this book. I loved this book SO VERY HARD. How hard, you might ask? Well, I started it on audiobook while I was on a flight from DC to Phoenix. I was that person literally laughing out loud on a plane, for no apparent reason, while playing games on my iPad and listening to it. I didn’t have a lot of audiobook time once I landed, so I promptly bought the book and proceeded to absolutely devour it. It was THAT GOOD.”

“I was hooked from the very first page (the very first word?) and I couldn’t get enough of Josh and Lucy. I love a good antagonistic romance and the way the enemies to lovers played out here was absolutely perfect. The fact that it’s an office romance didn’t hurt, either, since I do love those… particularly when it’s a story about the underlings and not some billionaire boss story. Josh and Lucy were charming and hilarious. Their banter made this book what it was. It’s what had me laughing out loud long before I was totally sucked in by the idea of a relationship between them. When things started heading that way, I was addicted to the sexual tension and couldn’t wait to see how everything would play out. The swoons and sexy times were like the cherry on top the already awesome sundae. Total perfection, IMHO, from start to finish.”

“All the buzz you’ve heard about The Hating Game is true. If you’ve not read it yet, what are you waiting on?” Kim B

The Last Thing He Told Me

“Couldn’t put it down. Suspenseful, romantic, heart warming! Vivid pictures of characters in my head, felt like I was right in the middle of it all.” — Rebecca

Along Came a Lady (All the Duke’s Sins Book 1)

“The romance between Edwina and Rafe is sweet and grows into what I believe is an abiding love. Another aspect of this romantic tale is the sexual tension between the pair. I love this in Regency romance. I truly wanted them to find their way to each other. This is difficult since both suffer from feelings of abandonment and find it nearly impossible to trust anyone. At least Rafe has his siblings who support and love him. Edwina has no one.”

“If you enjoy Regency romance with endearing characters and an emotionally charged plot, then you will love Along Came a Lady. Ms. Caldwell is an amazing author. I have yet to read one of her books that didn’t pull on my heartstrings. Happy reading!” — Amazon Customer

Possession (Explicitly Yours Book 1)

“This book was all kinds of yum! Would you sell your body for one night, for one million dollars? I would! Haha! I gotta say, I love the tension that was built up between Lola, Johnny (her bf), and Beau (her mystery man with money!). Lola and Johnny are the typical happy couple, living paycheck to paycheck and fully cohabitating. They even co-manage a bar that had seen better days.”

“Enter Beau. He’s rich, bold, and wants Lola. The instant-chemistry between these two promises of something angsty and yummy. You just know that this whole setup is going to forbidden and scrumptious. Book 1 ends after their one-night together, and sets up book 2 perfectly.” — Ange

The Happy Ever After Playlist

“Abby has done it again. It was great to revisit Sloan and Kristin again. It was like seeing old friends again. If you want a heart string puller, with some saucy romance intertwined, then this book is for you. Literal tears are streaming down my face from loving these characters so much, one would only hope to have a friendship like Sloan and Kristin and a love like Sloan and Jason.” — Amazon Customer
